Freetown is two towns in one delivery area: East Freetown out toward the ponds and the state forest, and Assonet village down by the river with its old center and narrow streets. Wooded lots, long drives and a lot of trees make up most of the work we do here.

Trees first, houses second. The Freetown-Fall River State Forest takes up a huge share of the town, and what is left is large wooded parcels, ranches and capes on acre-plus lots, farms along the back roads and older housing in Assonet village near the river. Septic and well are standard. Drives are long, often gravel, and framed by oaks that come down in every serious storm. Assonet itself is tighter and older, with buildings close to the street and the kind of driveway that fits one car and nothing else.
Storm cleanup is close to a permanent category here, with oaks coming down on sheds, fences and roofs. Whole-house cleanouts turn up in the older Assonet housing, typically with a full basement and attic to empty. Deck rebuilds, siding and roof replacement fill out the rest, and there is steady work on outbuildings that finally gave up. Clean wood and brush have to be kept apart from the general load, since both are banned from disposal.

East Freetown is the easy half: north on Route 140 and west on Braley Road or Chace Road puts us there without much fuss. For Assonet we carry on to Route 24 and drop into the village from the north, or run I-195 west and come up 24. Twenty-five to thirty-five minutes depending on which end. Low limbs on the wooded drives are the recurring obstacle, so we ask about clearance.
Services
Every container service we run is available in Freetown at the same flat rate as New Bedford itself — about 15 miles north-west of the yard via Route 140 and Route 24 makes no difference to the price.

We need about 14 feet of vertical clearance to raise and lower a box safely, and that is more than most people picture. Plenty of Freetown drives have a canopy of oak at eight or ten feet. If you can trim a lane beforehand we will come right in. If not, we set the container out near the road on firm ground, which is a shorter carry than a stuck truck.
It goes separately. Clean wood, brush and stumps are banned from disposal in Massachusetts and get chipped or processed rather than buried, so we do not want limbs mixed into a demolition load. After a big blow we will drop one container for clean wood and another for everything else. Keep the stumps and root balls out of it entirely, since soil makes a load unusable.
Rarely on the street itself. The older lanes near the river are narrow with buildings close to the pavement, and the town would need to be involved for any right-of-way placement. In the village we usually go to a 15 or 20 yard, tuck it into the driveway and swap when it fills. Out in East Freetown, where the lots are large, a 30 yard is no trouble at all.
Yes, and on a barn teardown or a full house cleanout it is usually the right plan. We take the full box, bring an empty one on the same trip when the schedule allows, and you never stop working. Because Freetown is twenty-five minutes out, we ask for a day's notice on swaps so we can build it into a run rather than send a truck out on its own.
