Dumpster Rental Fairhaven MA

Fairhaven sits directly across the Acushnet River from us, which makes it one of our shortest hauls and occasionally one of our least predictable, because the swing bridge answers to boat traffic and not to schedules. From the Rogers buildings downtown out to West Island, we cover the whole town.

Roll-off containers for Fairhaven homes and businesses

Henry Huttleston Rogers left this town a set of buildings most cities twice its size cannot match, and the neighborhoods around the town hall, the Millicent Library and the Unitarian Memorial Church are dense, old and mostly pre-1940. Oxford Village and the streets near the waterfront have short setbacks and one-car driveways. Head down Sconticut Neck or across to West Island and it changes completely: former cottages made year-round, sandy soil, and flood zone rules that genuinely bite. The working waterfront keeps the marine trades going all year.

Roof tear-offs and residing dominate in the older village, where houses sit close and there is rarely more than a car width of driveway to work with. Down the Neck we see storm work, with shingles, fencing and soaked basement carpet after a nor'easter. Marine shops send fiberglass trim-out and treated lumber. Cleanouts in the pre-war housing bring plaster, lath and cast iron radiators, which put a container over weight long before it looks full.

Getting to Fairhaven

Church Street to Ashley Boulevard, down to Route 18 and across the New Bedford to Fairhaven bridge on Route 6 is twelve minutes on a decent morning. For anything east of the center or headed down Sconticut Neck Road, Route 240 off I-195 is the better line and skips the bridge entirely. When the swing span is open we simply reroute rather than sit in it.

Dumpster rental in Fairhaven — FAQs

Does the swing bridge hold up deliveries into Fairhaven?

Occasionally, and we plan around it. When the Route 6 span is open for boat traffic a queue builds fast on both sides, so if we hit it we take I-195 east to the Route 240 ramp and come into town from the other direction. It rarely costs more than ten or fifteen minutes. If your delivery window is tight, tell us and we will route by 240 from the start.

Can you get a container onto a West Island lot?

Yes, with a look at the ground first. West Island driveways are often sand or thin gravel over sand, and a loaded box will settle in if we place it carelessly. We put boards down, keep the truck on the firmest line and sometimes set the container closer to the road than you would like. If the causeway or your street is flooding, we reschedule rather than risk it.

How fast can you deliver after storm damage?

We hold capacity back through the nor'easter season for exactly this. After a bad blow along Sconticut Neck and the Fort Phoenix side we can often be out same day or next morning. Wet carpet, insulation and drywall get heavy quickly, so we will usually recommend a 20 yard over a 30 and swap it rather than build one load nobody can legally haul.

Why does my container hit its weight limit before it looks full?

Because of what these old Fairhaven houses are made of. Plaster and lath, cast iron radiators, brick chimney pieces and old tile are all dense, and a 20 yard can reach its tonnage a third full of that material. For a plaster gut we suggest a smaller box and a second haul. Concrete and brick are also banned from disposal in Massachusetts, so keep them in their own pile.
